Meet the Patriots Buried Down the Road
Friday, July 17th
2:00 PM
West Dennis Library
The American Revolution wasn't fought only in places like Lexington, Concord, and Yorktown—it was lived by ordinary people from our own community.
Join local historian and Dennis Historical Commission Chair Diane Rochelle as she discusses her new book, Soldiers & Sailors: Patriots of the American Revolution: Dennis, Massachusetts, formerly the East Precinct of Yarmouth. Through years of research, Diane has uncovered the stories of the soldiers, sailors, militiamen, privateers, and seacoast defenders who left their homes to fight for independence—and who are now buried in Dennis cemeteries.
Blending military records, family histories, and local research with beautiful illustrations by South Dennis artist Howard Bonington, Soldiers & Sailors offers a fascinating local perspective on the Revolutionary War and the people who helped shape our nation's history.
Whether you've joined one of her cemetery tours, enjoy Cape Cod history, or simply love discovering the stories hidden in our own backyard, this program offers a unique opportunity to connect with the people who helped build both our nation and our community.
Books will be available for purchase and signing following the program. Refreshments will be served.
